HAD FIOS TV WITH INTERNET INSTALLED THREE WEEKS AGO..I AM HAVING CONSTANT TROUBLE KEEPING A PICTURE ON THE HDMI CONNECTION. THE PICTURE IS SUPERB BUT THE STB NEEDS TO BE RESET AT LEAST THREE TIMES PER DAY….LOCAL TECHS HAVE BEEN OUT TWICE AND TELL ME TO KEEP A LOG OF EVENTS..HAVE YOU HEARD OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS? THE PICTURE IS GOOD FOR ABOUT THREE HOURS, THEN JUST GOES TO BLACK..AND THE STB MUST BE RESET. I HAVE ALSO TRIED GOING TO THE SET UP MENU AND RESTORING ALL DEFAULTS WHICH WORKS ONLY FOR SHORT TIME..IE 3-4 HOURS…I CAN USE COMPONENT CABLE SET UP WITH NO PROBLEMS…

If you haven't already, have Verizon replace your set top box with a new one. If that doesn't work, I would recommend getting a UPS/Surge Protector with Automatic Voltage Regulation and Noise Suppression. Sensitive electronics such as the set top boxes can often be plagued by power irregularities.

Otherwise, you can always stick to the component outputs. I'd be surprised if you can actually notice a difference in picture quality.

Have the exact same problem. Wonder if HDMI for video direct to TV and component for AUDIO to receiver would work? Hope Verizon get their act straight and fix this thing.

When I looked at the set top boxes on Motorola's web site, I didn't see where an HDMI cable would connect but I would like to use this in lieu of analog. Can you tell me which STB you have and whether you resolved the problem?

Thanks, Rich

Just found the HDMI port on the 6200 STB. I'm still curious if you solved the problem though.

Thanks, Rich

I have the same problem. Had it for months. It is NOT transient related. It looks like the Motorola box has a hardware problem. I have a SAMSUMG TV but resetting the set top box, not the tv is always the solution.

Using component video is fine if your tv has component inputs but if you have a DVD player AND set top box, this solution is starting to be limiting as your tv does not necessarily have two component inputs.

Verizon should get off their *** and fix this. As people transition to HDEF DVDs the available inputs on their tvs are going to get slimmer.

PS - my theatre set up is DOWNSTAIRS so now problem there, but who wants to buy a receiver for every set top box????

Make sure you have a good quality HDMI Cable! I had bought a DVD player with HDMI. Connected to my TV, failed. Got another DVD, failed. Bought a higher quality DVD cable, works 100% of the time. Some free HDMI cables must be crappy. It was brand new! So try a good one.

I agree that you should use HDMI, but sorry that you are having problems.

I have all my equipment including the Settop box + Xbox 360 and Blu Ray player all going --> HDMI switch --> HDTV.
It all works fine.

I do have problems with the Setop occaionally and have to re-boot. However, I think they will eventually download a firmware to solve this.
