This morning we awoke to no audio from the DVR (Motorola QIP 6416). I've confirmed that the VCR and DVD player work fine, as they have great picture and sound. The surround sound system works great, as well. I even brought in a portable TV with audio inputs and connected the DVR to it. No sound.
We have the multiroom DVR, so this morning I recorded something with the DVR and it played back, with great sound, via the STB in another room. I even unplugged the DVR for about a minute. Still, it isn't outputing sound.
So, the cables connecting the components, the surround sound system, and the TV are all good. And audio and video are getting to the DVR. But, the audio isn't outputting from the DVR. It doesn't matter what channel it's set on, SD or HD. The mute isn't activated and the DVR volume is set where it should be. All the surround sound audio settings are correct, and audio from a tape or DVD is OK. I checked every cable and connection 4 times, the DVR is just not putting out any audio. This has never happened before. Any and all help and advice would most welcome. Thanx.

I am having the same problem and very close to the date you reported this. I have three tv's with FIOS but only one of them is doing this. I am waiting for a call back from Verizon. They already rebooted the system and that did not work.

I've noticed that, when the Emergency Broadcast test tone is sent over a channel that the STB is tuned to, it clears the internal volume control setting from 50 to 0! Then you have dig deep into the STB menu tree to locate this setting and drag it back to 50. Hope this helps. -roy
