My Grandma is considering FiOS TV. She has a nearly 20 year old cable ready console TV. Would she have to buy a new TV? It’s the set top box that unscrambles the signal right, so as long as the TV gets channel 3 shouldn’t it be fine? Will it also be fine after the 2009 requirements? Also does anyone happen to know if they provide simpler remotes for the elderly? mine has such tiny buttons and so many of them, 90% of which are useless. She will hate this remote if she can even work it…can a store bought universal remote be programmed to work with the FiOS boxes?
TIA!! I’d call Verizon but the last time I spent 5 hours on hold. Not straight through, I’d hold for 90 minutes and then give up and try again another day.

Any TV with a coaxial input would be compatible with a FiOS set top box. This setup would not be affected by the 2009 digital TV transition. Also, most universal remotes can be setup to control the FiOS (Motorola) set top boxes.
