Can anyone help with Mail server settings. These are the mail setting for a standard outlook 2003 setup
• Incoming mail server (POP3): incoming.verizon.net
• Outgoing mail server (SMTP): outgoing.verizon.net
• Your Verizon Online user name
• Your Verizon Online password

however I would like to login to and load my mail from my POP3 URI mail server which is mail.uri edu and send my email via the outgoing mail server: outgoing.verizon.net. This allows me to work from home using my work uri email address. Does this work on the Fios network?

Yes you can do this:

  • Incoming mail server: mail.uri.edu
  • Log on information: uri login
  • Outgoing mail server: outgoing.verizon.net
  • More settings -> Outgoing Server -> Log on using: verizon login

However I would recommend using URI mail server to send mail, if possible. Using verizon's mail servers to send mail for username@uri.edu will raise flags for many spam filters and may prevent some your mail from getting to the desired recipient. So that you're not juggling two email addresses, you could also look into forwarding one email to the other and just using one.
