I just had Verizon fios intalled, November 4, 2008. I like it a lot but for one major problem. The new STB box only has a RF input and no RF output. I can not hook into my Sony DVD/VCR to record. Does anyone know of this problem and a possible solution? I was told when I signed up that you could use the DVD/VCR unit. Fios Tech Support didnt have a clue what to do and said you can not use an external DVD/VCR recorder with the new STB. Thanks

Which STB are you referring to? According to Verizon's site, all current STB's do have an RF out. (see photos here: http://www22.verizon.com...ls/EquipmentDetails.htm)

The previous HD DVR box (QIP-6416) did not, but it did have composite video out and s-video out which should be compatible with 99% of VCRs.

You may have trouble recording content from the STB to VCR due to copyright restrictions (macrovision). Either way I would highly recommend a DVR for recording shows and watching them later or saving them indefinitely. The DVR is much easier to use than a VCR.

Verizon's site is wrong. The QIP 6416 DOES NOT have an RF out.
