Anybody know if Fios will be carrying or are they allowed to carry sports packages such as MLB Extra Innings?

I believe MLB has an exclusive contract with DirecTV, therefore FiOS cannot offer an MLB package like DirecTV's MLB Extra Innings.

That's not true. There is also a deal with inDemandand they can strike one with Fios. There are technical issues to work out so it's unlikely (from what I've read elsewhere) that it will happen in 2008, but morel ikely 2009. I'm not happy about this either as I just moved from DirecTV to Fios, like ot watch the Red Sox, but live in the DC area. Could no longer get DirecTV unless I cut down a few trees and don't really want ot do that--but not seeing games all year makes it tempting...

I was told when we signed up in August with Fios that they would have Extra Innings - other Cable providers have it - it is a question of contracting with MLB - it is no longer exclusive with Direct TV... We would pay alot to get this. If not, looks like FIOS will not be in our future...

Time to restart DTV I guess.

Verizon is currently in negotiations with MLB to bring MLB Extra Innings to FiOS TV. Currently they expect to begin MLB Extra Innings program some time during the current 2008 season.
