I will be moving to a new apartment and they do offer FiOS. I have two questions, one subjective. I love Time Warner Cable, their line up is great, the HD DVR works well, the onscreen programing interface is efficient and fast, has anyone moved from Time Warner in NYC and how do you feel about it? My main reason to move is the FiOS internet service, it seems much fast and higher speeds are much better priced.
Second, is the LandLine a traditional copper land line or VoIP? I currently have Vonage and while it is fine for a quick call, it is not high enough quality for Business related conference calls. Any Thoughts?
Thanks
Jay

Actually the landline is neither copper nor voip. When FiOS is installed, all existing and new landline service will be provisioned over the fiber optic network. It is a seamless transition. Compared to copper, an analog service, the voice signal is now digital all the way to the ONT (inside or outside your building). This means the voice service is not affected by interference or wet cables, etc, except for the wiring inside the building. It's also not VOIP because it does not transverse the public internet, and I cannot confirm that it even uses voice over internet protocol (technology). For comparison Verizon does offer an actual VOIP service for about half the price of its more reliable landline service.

It is in no part VOIP, there are analog trunks installed between the copper switch to the FIOS equipment. Same analog switches that the copper customers use.
